Having a Hay Day - no, A Hay Night

When I open the barn door in the morning, I'm always very cautious because I've been surprised with finding horses, sheep, and alpacas standing in the aisle. Below is what I'm hoping for - everyone cushed down and waiting for their breakfast. Yesterday there were no surprises when I slid the door over but lots of suspicious looking alpaca foot prints on the cement aisle. I quickly closed the door behind me and went in to the indoor arena. Yep, there were the girls wandering around. They must have been out all night because they made a real mess of the stacked hay bales, and had enough time to establish a new poop pile. They shooed right in through the OPEN door very easily. Damn! I must have not latched that door. I remember being in a hurry. Usually I check all doors before I come in.
No harm was done except my extra cleaning time, but can't you just imagine what chaos 10 loose horses would have created?
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Yes, I do love these gentle critters ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

I'm sorry you'll have extra cleaning, but I love this little tale. I'm giggling at the image of the alpacas sneaking around at night, causing little bits of mischief. So cute!

You could write a children's book about all the antics your brood causes :D

I agree with Meg - a children's book would be perfect!!! And, yes, I double check myself everytime I go in and out of the barn - unlokced doors and gates lead to big mischief with the horses!!!

Reminds me of the children's book, SNOWMEN AT NIGHT, which is about all the fun snowmen have at night sledding, having snow ball fights, making snow angels, swinging and sliding at the park, etc. Then, before morning light, they go back to their places, which explains why humans notice over time, drooping stick arms, carrot noses, disheveled scarves, eyes and mouths. Wonder what 'Pacas Do at Night! (We know for sure they don't do barn chores....hee, hee....but.....????) Good thing the fence panels have kept them from doing any unwanted nocturnal breedings!!!

lol Alpacas running loose and creating poo piles sounds hilarious! Probably not so funny for you since you had extra work because of it. :-)
